The Scouse athlete who began her career at Liverpool Harriers secured silver in Paris
Plans are to be drawn up to decide how best Liverpool can celebrate the achievements of the city’s Olympic star. During the Paris games, after overcoming injury that hampered her progess in Tokyo three years ago, Katarina Johnson-Thompson brought home her first ever Olympic medal as she won silver in the heptathlon.
When Liverpool Council ’s cabinet met yesterday evening, the former St Julie’s Primary School pupil’s success was the talk of the Town Hall. Cllr Liam Robinson, leader of Liverpool Council, said: “Let’s celebrate a local heroine. We’ve just come through another successful Olympics for Team GB and Liverpool’s very own Katarina Johnson-Thompson.
