Nottingham City Council currently operates a network of 15 libraries
Nottingham City Council is reportedly planning to consult on keeping just three of its libraries open amid a multi-million pound hole in its budget. The leader of the authority has previously acknowledged that closing libraries will be inevitable to generate the savings required.
It would mean swathes of the city being left without a library service and Des Conway, part of the Save Nottingham Libraries campaign, says such cuts would be "savage." Mr Conway said: "I met up with some colleagues the other day and one of them is 78 and has some mobility issues but she is able to walk just down the road to the Wollaton Library."She could end up having to get into town just to access a library service and that could be replicated all across the city.
