The council seeks to reduce its carbon emissions and has begun a trial with the alternative fuel.
A trial is under way to test whether a fleet of council vehicles could be powered with vegetable oil.
Several different types of vehicles are being used in the trial and initial results show they achieve a similar number of miles per gallon.Craig Collingswood, the councillor responsible for the environment and climate change, said: "The initial results of the trial are encouraging."
