The City of Brecksville would like to keep City Council chambers as empty as possible over the next few weeks, due to COVID-19. BRECKSVILLE, Ohio -- The city is requiring those who attend City Council meetings to wear face masks -- starting with a council organizational meeting Sunday -- due to the recent upsurge of COVID-19 cases., in a Dec. 29 email, also asked residents to watch livestreams of council meetings on the city’s Facebook page instead of attending in person whenever possible.
Hruby said he city notified everyone who attended the Dec. 21 council meeting about the infections. Some were quarantined, as recommended by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. Ryba said he will re-evaluate the mask mandate, based on the latest data, and let parents know the status of the requirement by Jan. 14, which is a Friday.
Through contact tracing, the Strongsville Schools have determined that 90 percent of COVID-19 cases were spread outside the school environment. “We are clearly seeing more sick students and staff,” Laub said in the email. “We had to close school the day before break because we could not staff our buildings.”
