Manchester City could reportedly look to strengthen their defensive options once again in 2024.
That is according to a report by Calciomercato, as cited by Sport Witness, which claims City, who booked their place in the last 16 of the Champions League on Tuesday evening, 'evaluated' him as an alternative to Josko Gvardiol in the summer. The Croatian joined the club from RB Leipzig in August.
Juventus and Bayern Munich have also been credited with interest in the defender, who has been on Atalanta's books since 2015. City are continuing to monitor him and the report claims the defender has 'been in contact' with them. Meanwhile, Juventus have 'made enquiries' about the prospect of signing City midfielder Kalvin Phillips on loan. That is according to a report by Italian publication TUTTOmercatoWEB, which claims the Serie A giants want to bolster their midfield options in January.
Phillips, who made a rare appearance for City against BSC Young Boys on Tuesday, has struggled to force his way into manager Pep Guardiola's plans since his arrival, making just 29 appearances in all competitions. He has played just eight times this season, starting once.
