Citi uncomfortably straddles Hong Kong-China fence, says petesweeneypro:

Hong Kong-listed shares in HSBC and Standard Chartered rose on June 4, the day after both UK-based banks publicly backed China’s national security law for the city.

HSBC's Asia Pacific Chief Executive Peter Wong has signed a petition backing the law, the bank revealed via social media on June 3. HSBC"respects and supports all laws that stabilise Hong Kong's social order", the bank said in a post on Chinese app WeChat. Standard Chartered later said it believed the law can"help maintain the long term economic and social stability of Hong Kong".
