In two years of a pilot program, girls flag football underwent explosive growth, capping out with about 1,300 players across 52 schools this past season.

With the sport now sanctioned, CHSAA’s next step will be to create a girls flag football committee, which will happen this week. A postseason format is among the first details that needs to be determined, as well as where the Class 5A and 4A championships will be held. During the pilot seasons, the tournament was played at the Broncos’ Pat Bowlen Fieldhouse.
