Big football games, family concerts, and the Christmas Markets will see more people in the city centre than usual
A warning has been issued to Manchester shoppers ahead of the festive season, which will see the return of the city’s Christmas Markets as well as a number of big events and football matches.
TfGM said that footfall in the city centre will typically increase by around 14% in the run up to Christmas, and people are being encouraged to ‘travel smart’ in order to help make their journeys quicker and more cost-effective. “It’s also the fastest way to get around, with 99 stops on the tram network, connecting people both to the city centre and local shopping hubs. And bus travellers can take advantage of low-cost fares such as £2 adult single ticket and combined tram-bus tickets, making an expensive time of year a little easier on the purse strings.
On Saturday, November 25, Manchester City will also host title rivals Liverpool to the Etihad which is expected to see trams and buses heading to and from the stadium to be increasingly busy before and after the match.
