CHP arrests suspect in fatal Oakland I-880 shooting
OAKLAND — California Highway Patrol officers arrested a San Francisco man connected to the fatal Friday shooting on Interstate 880 in Oakland of a man several reports have said was a former Cal basketball Hall of Famer.
The CHP and Alameda County sheriff-coroner would not confirm the shooting victim’s identity Saturday evening. Firefighters found the man from an apparent gunshot wound at about 5:45 p.m. at Oak Street near the Broadway off-ramp, said Michael Hunt, a spokesperson for the Oakland Fire Department.
