Chorley Council wants to know what residents think of its budget plans – including a council tax increase of just under two percent.
If approved, the increase would still leave Chorley residents paying the second-lowest council tax on a Band D property out of the dozen district authority areas in Lancashire – ahead only of Ribble Valley – with households in that category seeing an increase of just under £4 per year, taking their contribution to the borough council’s coffers up to £203.63.
While Cllr Wilson admitted that covering that shortfall will be a challenge, he stressed that the authority was better off for its previous investment in projects that generate cash over the long term.
