Police are hunting for a suspected serial shooter who has opened fire on three homeless people in Soho over the last two days, killing two of them, sources said.
The sinister spree began on Howard Street on Friday when the killer casually approached a man in a green sleeping bag, according to surveillance video viewed by The Post. The shooter kicked the sleeping man, looked around to see if anyone was watching, then pulled out a gun and shot him at point-blank range in the head, the disturbing footage showed.
The victim died, and the shooter, wearing all black with blue gloves, fled the scene, according to sources.Saturday, when a man was shot in front of 54 King St. by the unknown assailant, according to law enforcement sources. That victim was expected to survive his injuries, they said. About an hour later and a dozen blocks away, a man was shot to death in his sleeping bag in front of 148 Lafayette Street, sources said.That victim was murdered by the suspect around 6 a.m. as he braved frigid temperatures and a winter storm, surveillance footage showed, sources said.Police were said to be canvassing the fashionable Manhattan neighborhood to see if any other people without homes were targeted by the deranged killer.
