An 11-year-old boy is recovering after he was wounded in a shooting early Sunday in Bridgeton, authorities said.
Officers responded to Falcon Street shortly before 2 a.m. for a report of a shooting victim and found the child suffering from gunshot wounds to both legs, according to Bridgeton Police.He was taken to Cooper University Hospital, where he remains in stable condition, police said. The boy and two other children walked out of a Falcon Street home “to investigate a disturbance in an adjacent alleyway,” when the shooting occurred, according to police.Bridgeton Police Chief Michael Gaimari praised the efforts of the officers who initially responded to the scene — Acting Sgt. Zach Martorana and Officers Richard Keener and Chris Giacomelli — noting that hospital personnel reported that the officers’ quick action, “prevented what could have been a fatal outcome.
