Chicken Run 2: Release Date, Cast, Story Details & Everything We Know

The animated sequel Chicken Run: Dawn of the Nugget follows Ginger and Rocky as they experience more fowl play after escaping Tweddy's farm.

Chicken Run: Dawn of the Nugget was confirmed to be in production by Aardman Animation more than 18 years after the original movie's release, and updates on the new cast, follow-up story, and more about the sequel have been arriving ever since. In the original Chicken Run, which came out in 2000, a group of mostly hens on Tweddy's farm in Yorkshire, England, live their lives struggling to lay enough eggs to avoid becoming meat pies.

Chicken Run 2 Confirmed It was reported in the spring of 2018 that Aardman Animation was making Chicken Run 2. It was announced that Aardman would be working with StudioCanal, their partners on the Shaun the Sheep Movie and its sequel, A Shaun the Sheep Movie: Farmageddon, among other productions. Nothing much has changed in terms of the crew since the announcement of pre-production and the more recent announcement when the Chicken Run 2 release date was confirmed for 2023.

There is an argument that since Chicken Run: Dawn of the Nugget takes place only a few years after Chicken Run while 23 years have passed in real life, new voices are necessary. However, that argument starts to fall apart as some of the actors from the original have been brought back for the sequel. Jane Horrocks, Imelda Staunton, and Lynn Ferguson are all reprising their roles, as Babs, Bunty, and Mac, respectively.
