A huge night for Graham Potter and Chelsea... CFC
The pressure was on Chelsea heading into Tuesday night’s second leg as they were beaten 1-0 in Germany against Dortmund in the first leg last month.
But the Blues did what they had to do and beat Dortmund 2-0 at Stamford Bridge to earn a 2-1 aggregate victory. Chelsea were comfortably the better side over the 90 minutes and they created several chances before Sterling broke the deadlock just before half-time. Havertz later scored Chelsea’s second from the penalty spot. The German international struck the post with his initial attempt but the referee ordered a retake for encroachment. He went for the same corner with his second shot and that time the ball nestled in the bottom corner.
This is a huge boost for Potter as this is the only competition Chelsea are competing in and they will hope that a run in the Champions League can boost them heading into next season.
