Some claimants will be paid earlier than expected
An unexpected bank holiday is now in the calendar following the death of Queen Elizabeth II. Monday, September 19, has been confirmed as a Bank Holiday for the state funeral of Queen Elizabeth II and as such many shops and businesses will close or reduce their opening hours.
National bank holiday's often trigger alterations to payment dates. If you are due to receive a DWP benefit payment on Monday, then there is likely to be a change to your payment date. Payments are expected to be paid prior to the weekend - the last working day before the bank holiday, which falls on Friday, September 16.
This change applies to payments including Universal Credit if your normal due date is the 19th of the month, according to Birmingham Live, and to those on State Pension who have numbers from 00 to 19 as the last two digits of their National Insurance and usually receive their money on a Monday. Child Benefit is usually paid every four weeks on a Monday or Tuesday, so those who had been expecting the cash on the Monday should also get it earlier.
