, this year’s march should remind people that though decades have passed since “La Causa” began, there are many challenges today that are similar to what people faced during the civil rights movement of the ’60s and ’70s.
“The struggle for the working class continues today and is evident in wage disparities, rising costs of healthcare, food disparity, voting rights being challenged and barriers to complete a college education by Brown and Black communities,” Martinez said in the release. Marchers are asked to bring canned goods with them for the “Yes We CAN” food drive that will benefit the San Antonio Food Bank. People can drop off the canned goods in red bins stationed at the start of the march route.
