A course of chemotherapy before traditional cervical cancer treatment has shown incredible success A simple change to cervical cancer treatment using drugs that have already been approved has shown the biggest improvement in survival rates in almost 25 years, a new study has found. Cervical cancer is most commonly diagnosed in women in their early 30s, with around 3,200 new cases annually in the UK, meaning the new treatment could save hundreds of lives every year.

Cervical cancer is often caused by human papilloma virus Over 10 years, 500 patients took part in the Interlace trial at hospitals in the UK, Mexico, India, Italy and Brazil. They had been diagnosed with cervical cancer which was large enough to be seen without a microscope but had not spread to other parts of the body.
