Dominick Giannotti will serve a minimum of nine months in prison after pleading guilty to possession of child pornography.A Mechanicsburg-area man found with scores of images of children - including some child pornography - on his cell phone and other electronic devices was sentenced to nine to 23 months in Cumberland County Prison Tuesday, with a five-year term of supervised probation to follow.
According to court filings, the case came to light when a person Giannotti was vacationing with in Florida last year discovered alarming videos and photos on his phone. She alerted Silver Spring Township police when she returned to the area. But police said their investigation - including reviews of a cell phone and a laptop computer owned by Giannotti - confirmed some of the photos and videos Giannotti downloaded constituted child pornography.
Tuesday’s county prison sentence was agreed to as part of the plea, Giannotti’s attorney Jonathan White noted, in part because of his client’s cooperation with police and Giannotti’s committed involvement to counseling and treatment since the case came to light.
