The ongoing fan row between the Dutch and Italian sides has escalated again.

Feyenoord have dished out a taste of Lazio's own medicine by banning their away fans in the Champions League.

It comes after the Italians, who dolled out a 2-1 defeat at Parkhead against Brendan Rodgers' men when Pedro struck late on, denied the Dutch champions any travelling supporters for this month's clash at the Stadio Olimpico in Rome. Celtic have the daunting task of facing La Liga giants Atletico Madrid home and away after losing their first two.

But Italian authorities announced earlier this week that no Feyenoord fans would be permittedin to the stadium the Hoops were victorious in under Neil Lennon in 2019. The decision comes as part of a long-standing feud between the two sides, with Feyenoord prevented from attending matches in the Italian capital for the third time in two seasons.

And now the Rotterdam club have issued a tit-for-tat response and banned Lazio fans from the game at De Kuip. They stated: "Feyenoord, together with the mayor of Rotterdam, police chief and chief public prosecutor, decided not to allow Italian fans in the stadium. This is from the point of view of both safety and, for Feyenoord, from the point of view of sportsmanship."
