Casualty aired nurse Charlie Fairhead's final scenes in an episode fans said was one of the 'best ever', but it also left fans in tears as Derek Thompson quit the show
After almost four decades on the BBC medical drama Casualty, Derek Thompson’s final scenes as Charlie Fairhead were aired on Saturday 16 March and fans were emotional to say the least.
The incident however did prompt Charlie to hang up his nurse’s uniform. He said: "I thought I was a goner," before adding: "I'm going to retire." Speaking to the OK!, Derek said his final scenes were on of the biggest moments in his life "like the birth of a child or your wedding." Soon after, a nail bomb explosion fills the hospital with casualties and viewers saw Charlie responding to a challenging day at work while also revealing a hidden connection between him and Stevie.
