Two castles in Scotland have been named among the most 'romantic ruins' for a UK getaway by the BBC programme Countryfile.
TWO Scottish castles have been named among the most"romantic ruins" in the UK and some of the most "enchanting" places to go on a staycation.
The experts also shared information on the nearby hotels available for those visiting as well as hidden features people can keep their eyes out for.Kilchurn Castle in Argyll and Bute and Lochleven Castle in Perth and Kinross were the ruins named on the list with the officialDiscussing Kilchurn Castle, the experts said the spot,"cradled by mountains on the shores of Loch Awe, offers a splendid blend of history and natural beauty.
The experts also recommended the Tower of Glenstrae as a place to stay, and told visitors to keep an eye out for the lintel dated 1693 bearing the initials of the 1st Earl of Breadalbane and Countess Mary Campbell.Lochleven Castle in Perth and Kinross was said to have echoes of Mary, Queen of Scots' daring escape over Loch Leven.
