The New York Mets have stunned the baseball world by reportedly signing Carlos Correa less than a day after the San Francisco Giants had medical concerns after a physical.
The Mets are signing Correa to a 12-year $315 million deal, according to New York Post baseball columnist Jon Heyman.Correa had previously agreed to a 13-year $350 million contract with the Giants, but his introductory press conference, which was originally scheduled for Tuesday, was postponed at the last minute after a reported medical concern stemmed from the team's physical exam.
The new deal with Correa is subject to a physical with the Mets, but if successful, it will be the latest addition for the team after it signed several other players, including World Series pitcher Justin Verlander.Now that they have lost Correa, the Giants will be looking to move forward from a disappointing free agency after the team was also unsuccessful in getting American League MVP Aaron Judge to sign in San Francisco.
Correa played with the Minnesota Twins last season, achieving 22 home runs and 64 RBIs during his only year with the team.
