Burnley care home where water leaks onto electric wires told shape up - or face closure in months
A Burnley care home where a water leak had soaked into electrical wires has been placed in special measures - and told to shape up within six months.
Elsewhere, gas leaks and water leaks were found and alarmingly the water leak had soaked through a ceiling onto electrical wires. The issues found were serious enough to prompt the involvement of Lancashire Fire and Rescue Service which made recommendations on how to improve things. PPE also proved to be an issue, with one resident reporting that “the staff don't normally wear masks, but they did today because you're here”. The inspectors also noted that “where one staff member had tested positive for COVID-19, the service had failed to follow guidance in relation to testing of staff”.
