With home runs in consecutive innings on Friday night at Dodger Stadium, the St. Louis slugger joined Barry Bonds, Hank Aaron and Babe Ruth as the only MLB players to reach the milestone.
LOS ANGELES — The 700 club has a new member.
In his first at-bat Friday, Pujols struck out against Dodgers left-hander Andrew Heaney, a former teammate with the Angels. Heaney and Bickford became the 454th and 455th pitchers to give up home runs to Pujols, the most any player has ever victimized. He has now hit exactly 500 home runs off of right-handed pitchers and 200 off of lefties.
Pujols snapped a tie with Alex Rodriguez for fourth on the list when he hit career homer No. 697 against Pittsburgh on Sept. 11.
