Hint: The weird-but-chic shoe is all about the toes.
Lately, celebrities have been wearing shoes that are, well, let’s say unconventional. This summer, Alaïa’s mesh ballet flats were a hit on stars like Jennifer Lawrence. For fall, Marc Jacobs’s Kiki boots—complete with a staggering 7-inch platform—have been embraced by Olivia Rodrigo and Beyoncé, among others. Standard sneakers or heels these are not: everybody wants a weird-but-chic silhouette.
While it’s no everyday staple, the Tabi is one of the hottest shoes in fashion right now. It just topped the Lyst Index’s list of the hottest 2023 products for Q3, and has been worn by everyone from Dua Lipa to Chloe Sevigny, too. Cardi, who was spotted out in Long Island, made the shoe feel very her, by pairing it with a worn-in leather bomber jacket, spray-painted jeans, and her signature Hermès Birkin bag. Of course, Cardi is no stranger to a bold shoe, either.
