The shortage of computer chips, parts and auto technicians is trouble for auto industry
The auto industry, like many others, is in the midst of a perfect storm of misfortunes.

A lack of computer chips has been a significant issue in the auto industry. Initially, the chips, which are primarily manufactured in East Asia, weren’t available, but once a supply was ready, shipping delays in ports compounded the problems.
It’s even changed the way Minor feels when customers tell him that they chose to buy from a different Toyota dealership. The wait lists are so lengthy that it is impossible to please everyone in a timely manner, so any time a customer gets a car, it’s a relief. The shortage extends to the labor side as well, from the people who fix cars to the entire staff of dealerships.
