The car belonging to Jacob VanZant was found with human remains inside by a volunteer dive team in the San Joaquin River, officials said.
that the remains belong to VanZant, the San Joaquin County Medical Examiner’s Office has not officially identified the body found inside the white Honda Pilot. “There was a deceased located inside the vehicle,” said Sgt. Matt Latino, a spokesperson for the police department. “I believe the autopsy will be completed today.”
VanZant’s Honda Pilot was submerged in a section of the river known as Little Potato Slough, some 18 feet underwater and 50 feet offshore from Eight Mile Road, which dead-ends at the water.
