The 1kg parcel had a potential street value of nearly £10,000
A package of cannabis which was on its way from Los Angeles to Nottingham was seized at an airport. Border Force officials intercepted a parcel containing 1kg of cannabis at Birmingham Airport on March 2 last year.
The package – delivered from an address in Los Angeles, California – had been destined for an address in Chesil Cottages, Wollaton. The drugs, concealed inside two sealed plastic bags, were seized and tests found they had a potential street value of nearly £10,000. Nottinghamshire Police found further quantities of cannabis along with cash, scales and a grinder when executing a warrant at the Wollaton address. Abdul Khan was arrested and pleaded guilty to being concerned in the fraudulent evasion of a prohibition on the importation of a Class B drug.
The 22-year-old, now of Drake Road, Chafford Hundred, Grays, Essex, was given a 12-month prison sentence suspended for two years at Nottingham Crown Court on Thursday, March 7. He pleaded not guilty to possession with intent to supply a Class B drug and this charge was left to lie on file.
