En fait, la cause est tout autre alors que c’est l’ouverture et la fermeture fréquente du hayon qui peut endommager un faisceau de câbles qui transporte le signal de la caméra.
Or, la loi exige que celle-ci soit fonctionnelle. Les modèles touchés couvrent les années 2017 à 2019. Le problème découle d’une protection inadéquate des fils du faisceau, selon l’avis émis par Honda à la NHTSA , l’équivalent de Transports Canada. Un tube ondulé de protection entoure les fils et est maintenu en place par une attache en plastique.
Certains clients qui ont rencontré ce problème en dehors de la période de couverture de la garantie peuvent avoir été contraints de payer pour une réparation. Honda dit qu’elle va les rembourser et qu’elle réparera gratuitement les camions couverts par le rappel. Les notifications aux propriétaires devraient être envoyées à partir de janvier.
