As Burnley ’s players trudged off after another disappointing afternoon, Vincent Kompany had a point he wanted to make. The Belgian felt his side should have had a penalty in added time which could have earned them a point. Instead, his side’s 2-1 defeat to fellow strugglers AFC Bournemouth was another setback in their troubling start to the Premier League . They are second from bottom with four points after 10 games.
As shown below, the first camera used offered an awkward angle, but the green line suggested Rodriguez was onside. However, when you inspect the green line closely, the striker’s head is beyond it. The VAR team were not comfortable with the placement of the initial lines, so they repeated the process on an alternative camera angle. It showed Rodriguez was offside with the position of the line taken from his head.
