The tools we use to educate students are changing.
A decade ago, online learning was on the bleeding edge. Today online learning is commonplace; the bleeding edge of educational technology belongs to artificial intelligence and virtual and augmented reality. Keeping up with these rapid and layered changes requires relentless intellectual curiosity and an entrepreneurial spirit that asks how we can do better.
How do we help even more people cross the bridge to opportunity that is afforded to them by public higher education? Our Board of Governors will be addressing these questions at meetings hroughout the year. We will look to innovations—some new and some already developing within our universities. Together, they show us that pursuing our mission in a changing world requires that we innovate, hustle, and collaborate with employers, other educators, and industry and government partners.
Harrisburg Area Community College and PASSHE are contemplating a prototype inventory of the credentials they produce in healthcare and IT. It would help students evaluate educational options and how they connect with careers and earning potential. It would help employers connect with students who have the skills they need.
