Mum-of-five Carrie Henderson, 39, was heartbreakingly told she has up to 18 months to live after the disease spread to her lymph nodes – just four months after she was told she was in remission.
An Alexandria mum faced with a devastating terminal cancer diagnosis believes a buddying system could encourage more women to attend smear tests.
She is also bravely raising awareness through a series of raw TikTok videos she hopes will help save lives.“I’ve had a lot of people message me to say that they are worried about the smear test and that it’s daunting going alone. She had also began experiencing extreme fatigue, regular urine and ear infections, a low mood and a shooting pain down her leg.
Carrie has told how sharing her story is already having an impact, with many women approaching her since we published the article last month, telling her it had given them the confidence to go for their smear tests. The night was held at the Vale of Leven Angling Club with the mum-of-four saying she has been left overwhelmed by the community response since sharing her diagnosis.
