ICYMI: Brock Badgers feature tough and 'long' match-up for Huskie men's basketball
No, from here on in, it gets much harder for the University of Saskatchewan Huskies men’s basketball squad.
“They’re really well coached; they’re long; they’re athletic; they’ve got some experienced guys; they’re a little bit older. Our work is cut out for us. They’re a really good team and, at the same time, so are we. We have to go in there and play our game and obviously we make sure we do a good job on their shooters. They really want to shoot the three, get out and play with some pace. We’ve got to take that away from them as best we can. Our guys are up for the challenge. They’re ready.
Captain Emmanuel Akintunde echoed those sentiment, but said “just a chance to play a team from the other side of the country” is something that they would like to put into their season and the fact that they’re No. 1 is something “we need to be tuned into.” “I’m just super excited to just been given the opportunity, to be one of the last eight teams in the country. To be able to participate in nationals is super exciting. I just feel like I need to take it all one day at a time, enjoy each moment and see how far we can get ourselves.”“We’ve been preparing since we found on Sunday ,” he said. “I think we match up decently well. They might be a bit bigger than us but, guard-wise and skill-wise, we’re ready to play.
