A forensics tent has been put up outside the house A woman has been arrested on suspicion of murder after a man died in a house fire. Firefighters, police and paramedics rushed to the scene in Preston Road, Brighton, at around 4am on Sunday. The victim, a 50-year-old man, was pronounced dead at the scene, while a 36-year-old woman has been arrested on suspicion of murder. The suspect hasn’t yet been identified but she is thought to be from Brighton.
The fire was located in the basement flat of the building which is now stained black with smoke Police and the fire service are investigating the fire A fire service spokesman said: ‘Crews from Preston Circus, Roedean, Newhaven, Bexhill, Lewes, supported by crews from West Sussex Fire and Rescue Service, used breathing apparatus an electric saw and forcible entry to to access the property. ‘Pumping equipment and firefighting foam was used to deal with the fire.
