Tuesday will be mostly cloudy and a bit warmer.
With a mainly cloudy sky, the high in Indianapolis was just 57 degrees on Monday. That's nearly 10 degrees below average and marked the second straight day below 60 degrees.
Latest satellite imagery shows the blanket of low clouds continues to cover central Indiana and likely lingers into the first half of Tuesday. The backside of the cloud deck remains just west of Champaign, Illinois and will be slow to spread east until later Tuesday.As a result, temperatures will be slow to warm Tuesday and remain in the 50s until a brighter finish emerges with late-day highs in the 60s.
We'll see a seasonably chilly night in the 30s/40s Tuesday into Wednesday morning, which will likely be the warmest this week as highs near 70 degrees in the afternoon as a southwest wind begins to crank. Sunshine gives way to a gradual increase in cloud cover throughout. This precedes an increase in showers Wednesday night into Thursday with the approach of a cool front.
Though showers will be numerous, rain amounts unfortunately will be relatively light and have little impact on the moderate drought conditions.Credit: WTHR
