The new bridge over the Leaf River is nearing completion
.Updated: 10 hours agoFORREST COUNTY, Miss. - Forrest County supervisors had fingers crossed that work on the new River Bridge would be done by this time and be open for traffic between Hattiesburg and Petal .In its latest bridge-related post on its Facebook page Friday afternoon, the board sounded optimistic.
“Here’s the update on the East Hardy Street/River Avenue Bridge: ‘There is LIGHT at the end of the tunnel!’” the post read. “The guardrails are completely DONE! We have guys out here laying sod in the rain, and working hard to power through the rest of these ‘finishing touches!’”Graded, formed and poured sections of sidewalk on the Petal and Hattiesburg sidesFormed and poured the last sections of the barrier rail over the finger joints; concrete pouring is complete on the bridgeRubbed the finish on the handrails where requiredBegan installing sod in the green space between the back of curb and sidewalkCleaned up the...
