The Foreign Secretary has dominated the political lens this week, while Nigel Farage continues to capture the Tory right
landing in workers’ pay packets, as a chance to show voters why they should stick with the Tories come the election.
“It’s less her but there are others in that group ,” the MP said. “It’s a small group – the majority of the party are appalled with the way this is taking place.” Even Tony Blair’s former spinner Alastair Campbell was quick to point out Lord Cameron’s communication skills when retweeting a video of the Foreign Secretary delivering a two-minute pitch on what he had been up to during the Nato summit in Brussels.
But others in the party are less impressed with the return of Cameroonism, raising concerns that a perception that the party is returning to the centre ground at a time when support for Reform UK is on the rise could be fatal for the party. The talk of defections is symptomatic of the general malaise that has taken hold of the party and the resignation among MPs that Sunak will lead the party to defeat at the general election.
