A groundbreaking event just wrapped up in Central Texas celebrating competitors of all abilities. The Para Endurance Adaptive Foundation held their first-ever
Theheld their first-ever USA-Triathlon-sanctioned "adaptive only" event in Pflugerville , marking a historic moment in sports inclusively.
For the founder, Scott Bennefield, it's all about breaking down barriers, "For me, the most exciting part of this process is seeing the lives that have changed because there are those who have so many obstacles they overcome on a daily basis. They come out and do this athletic event of these three different things, swim, bike run and it's just a, a really hard event."
Two-time Paralympian, Kyle Coon, who just competed in Paris, was there to hand out medals and encouragement, "You just gotta be willing to come out and give it a try.With help from the community Scott hopes to continue these events for years to come, "We want to help them be successful in this this sporting event because we know it makes a difference, not just on the field of play, but off the field to play too in their everyday life.
And Kyle knows our Central Texas family will show up, "They always say, you know, things are bigger and better in Texas and that, and that goes for everyone's hearts as well."
