The Delta Chi and Phi Delta Theta chapters at Bowling Green State University are accused of violating rules involving hazing and alcohol consumption.
the Phi Delta Theta fraternity was suspended until fall of 2024 after the chapter had two incidents in which 911 had to be called because of excessive alcohol consumption. The second fraternity, Delta Chi, will have a current suspension extended to fall 2026 after it was accused of excessive drinking and hazing incidents, WTOL reports.
The suspensions come less than a year after a student attending a Pi Kappa Alpha fraternity event at an off-campus location in Bowling Green died from excessive alcohol consumption. Three students were expelled and 18 suspended in connection, 20, of Delaware, Ohio, in March 2021. Several men also were charged criminally in Foltz’s death.
Phi Delta Theta is accused of providing alcohol to underage drinkers and also for “conduct that unnecessarily disturbs others or disrupts local municipalities,” WTOL reports. Delta Chi is accused of allowing underage drinking and of hazing that involved hot sauce and illegal trespassing.
