Boris Johnson says he thinks life in the UK could 'return to normality' by Christmas
Johnson told a press conference on Friday that all remaining coronavirus social distancing measures could be lifted in time for Christmas.The decision came despite coronavirus case numbers increasing in the UK according to a recent study.
"It is my strong and sincere hope that we will be able to review the outstanding restrictions and allow a more significant return to normality from the November at the earliest — possibly in time for Christmas," the UK Prime Minister told a press conference on Friday.
The number of coronavirus deaths has continued to fall in the UK. However, case numbers have flatlined, with some studies suggesting they may beThe UK Prime Minister made the comments as he announced the partial lifting of previous guidance instructing workers to work from home where possible, from the start of August.
He announced the decision despite the UK's Chief Scientific Adviser Patrick Vallance warning on Thursday that he saw "no reason" to change the guidance.
