As the car was engulfed in flames, a responding deputy walked up to the scene and off-duty Sergeant Rich Barton, seen in the video in a khaki colored sweater and glasses, single handedly tried to pull the 6 foot, 200 pound driver up the hill and away from the car. Sgt. Barton and the other deputy started to pull the man up and about a minute later they called for more help, as more law enforcement officials rushed down to clear the thick brush.
