The fire officials responded to the lake about 5:30 p.m. after reports of a possible drowning. A witness told authorities that a man was last seen swimming near the beach area and restrooms, where he did not resurface.
The Grand Prairie Public Safety Dive Team recovered the body. Authorities said the man was not wearing a life vest.“The City of Grand Prairie sends its condolences to the victim’s family,” the fire department said in a prepared statement. “As the lake season approaches, GPFD strongly encourages the public to wear a life vest or an appropriate personal floating device while near the water.”.
