Blossoming Robert Suarez holds the line in Padres' win

Before Josh Hader closed the door, it was Robert Suarez's two-inning hold that proved pivotal in the Padres' 5-3 win over the Dodgers in Game 2 of the NLDS

Austin Nola pondered the question for a moment. It was one he visited himself in the moments after Wednesday’sover the Dodgers, a back-and-forth win in which the Padres’ bullpen secured the final 12 outs.

In between, it was Suarez’s two-inning hold that may have been the most pivotal in ensuring the Padres would return to Petco Park on Friday with the NLDS tied a one game apiece. “Toward the end of the season, he was pitching really good,” Darvish said. “In that situation, him coming into the game, I really thought that he was going to do it. I thought he was going to shut them down. That’s exactly what he did.”The hardest pitch thrown Wednesday night was the 101.1 mph sinker that Justin Turner swing through.
