Bertie, 11, from Blandford, stopped another child from drowning whilst on holiday in Lanzarote.
An eleven-year-old boy who was training as a lifeguard has been recognised after rescuing a child from drowning.
Seeing the boy fighting to stay above the water and shouting for help, Bertie put his arm under the young boy's armpit and pulled him to safety.His mother Helen said Bertie reacted on his gut instinct. "We are very proud that he had the confidence and the presence of mind to help the child in distress and even more that his training kicked straight in to get the child to safety," she added.
