Plans have been submitted to convert the former facefood takeaway into a bar
Neil Boulton, from Blackpool, has submitted a planning application to Blackpool Council to change the use of 3 Birley Street from a restaurant and takeaway, previously known as Facefood, into a bar. The plans will involve a 'limited amount' of internal work but will help to bolster the booming Blackpool economy.
A heritage statement submitted with the application claims that a new bar will 'not be harmful or adversely impact' the town centre and instead will enhance the offering to tourists and visitors to the seaside resort. The plans give a fascinating summary of the development of Blackpool town centre and reveal that, in the early 18th century, the town consisted of 'a few cottages dotted along the shoreline'.
The application states that Blackpool's attraction as a visitor destination was spawned by the increasing popularity among the working classes from Yorkshire and Lancashire employed in the textile industry. The opening of new rail networks linking Preston and Blackpool helped to grow its tourism. Documents submitted to Companies House reveal that Facefood Ltd was incorporated as a limited company in March 2018 and was dissolved in November 2019. The sole director of the company was Bafrin Mohammed.
