Lancashire Constabulary are in attendance
An air ambulance has landed at Burton's Biscuit Company on Mansfield Road. Images from the scene show several police vehicles are also in attendance.
North West Ambulance Service has confirmed one person has been taken to hospital following an incident shortly after 1pm."We were called at 13.33 to respond to a medical incident and have taken a patient to hospital by road." The history of Burtons can be traced back to George Burton who began baking biscuits in Leek, Staffordshire, during the mid-1800s. The company would go on to produce Wagon Wheels and Jammie Dodgers.
