Bishop O’Dowd will miss NCS playoffs after scheduling oversight
OAKLAND – Bishop O’Dowd will not participate in the North Coast Section girls volleyball playoffs after it was discovered the team played one more than the maximum amount of 24 games allowed during the regular season.
“Our Administration has been in touch with the NCS Office and the rules are clear. O’Dowd cannot compete in the playoffs,” Bishop O’Dowd director of communications Kamara Rose said in a statement released on Thursday night. “There is no appeal.” “It was a scheduling oversight with big consequences for our players, their families, and the school,” athletic director Carlos Reed said in the aforementioned statement. “Our team has put in years of hard work to reach this stage, especially our seniors. This is a devastating outcome and not at all what we hoped for. I’m very proud of the team, of everything they accomplished, and all the spirit they bring to the game. I’m proud of Coach Nova and his leadership.
