The news has raised the possibility that the Republican candidate could be facing a financial crisis, although he still has options such as appealing to the state’s highest court, selling an asset or petitioning a wealthy supporter.Trump says he is worth several billion dollars and testified last year that he had about $400m in cash, in addition to properties and other investments.
Companies will not “accept hard assets such as real estate as collateral” but “will only accept cash or cash equivalents ”. He added: “A bond of this size is rarely, if ever, seen.”
