The county of AlUla, in northwest Saudi Arabia, is best known for its breathtaking landscape – 22,500 square kilometers of cinematically versatile terrain with unique rock formations, volcanic craters, lush oases, vast sandstone canyons – all dotted with diverse historical sites, including the ancient city of Hegra, the kingdom’s first UNESCO World Heritage Site.
Now, Film AlUla, the film agency established by the Royal Commission for AlUla, is ready to showcase the city’s full range of assets, starting with its state-of-the-art studio facilities. The brand new studio complex includes two 26,000-square-foot soundstages, as well as a production building housing hair and makeup rooms, wardrobe facilities, office spaces, board rooms and dressing rooms.
Deleon-Jones adds, “The facilities allow as much flexibility for productions as possible, and the soundstages are located to provide easy access to the large studio backlot. The incredible scenic locations of AlUla provide the freedom of building their own sets and worlds, for either part of the project or for the entirety of it.”
Film AlUla is enabling productions using the studios to optimize the 40% cash rebate program and additional incentives.
