A loaded gun in the briefcase of Bexar County Court-at-Law Judge Rosie Speedlin Gonzalez was detected by airport security last week, causing her to be detained.

Calling it “a stupid oversight,” Speedlin Gonzalez, who presides over County Court-at-law No. 13, said Tuesday that she “should have been more careful.” TSA agents notified San Antonio police when they detected the firearm, and an officer was shown an image on an X-ray monitor “which resembled a handgun with a magazine inserted, loaded with ammunition and chambered,” a police report states.Told to lose that gay pride flag, a San Antonio judge takes her last shot at letting it fly
Speedlin Gonzalez was released and able to catch flight but told that she could face civil penalties from TSA, and the incident was referred to the Bexar County District Attorney’s Office for review, the report states. The DA’s Office declined to comment on the incident Tuesday.
